Our History
For more than 30 years, the production of blueberries and maple sirup has been a constant source of joy for many at the Bleuetière et Érablière Giard.
The Giard family planted their first plants at a time when very few believed that production could be possible in Granby, Québec and their innovation continued to produce the best blueberries in the region. At the heart of the company was the idea that visitors could pick their own blueberries while the highest priority has always been the happiness of the client.
In 2010, Luc Renaud and Nicole Hamel decided to continue the projects set out by the Giard family when they acquired the farm. While many new initiatives have been added such as many new varieties of blueberries, the values of the company have stayed the same. The quality of the blueberry and the happiness of the visitors has an importance that can be noticed at every visit.
In spring 2019, Luc and Nicole decided to move into the next adventure for the farm: raspberries! We will announce when they are ready to be picked.
We now have about 5 000 blueberry plants in over 7 varieties as well as 2 500 maple spouts. The 35 acres keeps its original farmhouse charm and invites visitors to relax with its beautiful views on the Bromont and Shefford mountains.
Our Values
At the Bleuetière et Érablière Giard, we have three core values that are held above all: quality, family, and respect.
We guarantee the highest quality of products. We use modern technology in both our maple sirup and blueberry productions in order to guarantee the quality of our products
Family is the foundation of the farm. We hold the moments that families experience while they are with us to be extremely important. Our team is, in its majority, made up of the family of the owners and we aspire to create an environment where families can enjoy their time together.
Respect is at the heart of our decisions. In the fields or the boutiques, we are committed to respecting our visitors and the environment. Sustainable development is also important when making our decisions. In 2019, we have continued our promise to be more ecological by beginning the transition towards blueberry baskets with a wooden handle.
Our Team
Here is a snapshot of the many people who work at the farm.
Nicole Hamel et Luc Renaud – Owners
They are the heart of the farm. With many years owning other businesses, including sugar bushes before this farm, they are now retired from all other work. They ensure that all the daily activities at the farm are completed and can almost always be found at the farm during opening hours. Nicole also prepares all of our transformed products.
Jessica Renaud – Owners’ daughter
Born with a passion for animals, Jessica is responsible for the petting farm and the wellbeing of the animals. She also takes part in the production of our transformed products and every other part of the farm. During opening hours, she can most often be found in the boutiques, ready to answer any of your questions.
Yannick Renaud – Owners’ son
Having grown up in the family’s sugar bushes, he found a passion for maple syrup production from a young age. Now a maple syrup technicien, he is involved in almost every aspect of the farm.
